Learn to Swim
• Level 1
In our program a young non-swimmer will learn basic arm and leg movements, experience entry into the water, and understand the importance of returning to the wall. As a child progresses, the focus is on gaining confidence to do short swims to the wall, first with assistance and then alone.
• Level 2
• Instructor recommendation only
• Successful completion of Level 1
• Front / Back float 10 seconds
• 20 ft. each back paddle stroke, front paddle stroke with face wet, blowing bubbles75 ft. endurance swim
• Level 3
• Instructor recommendation only
• Successful completion of Level 2
• Tread water for 20 seconds
• Front / Back float 20 seconds
• 10 bobs with bubbles
• 40 ft. each, front and back crawl, front and back symmetrical stroke, side paddle stroke
• Level 4
• Instructor recommendation only
• Successful completion of Level 3
• Tread water for 3 minutes
• 25 yards each, front and back crawl, rudimentary breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke |
• Level 5
• Instructor recommendation only
• Successful completion of Level 4
• Tread water 5 minutes
• Head / Feet first surface dives
• Swim 50 yards each front and back crawl, breaststroke with open turns, elementary backstroke and sidestroke
• Level 6
• Instructor recommendation only
• Successful completion of Level 5
• Tread water 6 minutes
• Front and back flip turns
• Swim 75 yards each, front crawl with bilateral breathing, breaststroke with power pull, elementary backstroke, back crawl
• 100 yard sidestroke, 50 yards sidestroke each side, 50 yards life saving sidestroke each side
• 15 yards butterfly stroke
• Level 7
• Instructor recommendation only
• Successful completion of Level 6
• Swim 100 yards each, front crawl with bilateral breathing and flip turns, breaststroke with power pull and open turn, elementary back stroke and back crawl with flip turns
• 50 yards butterfly
• 100 individual medley
